31 MARCH - SIMON BRIGHTON - GODDESSES. In pre-Christian Britain the Great Goddess was worshipped either as an equal to the Gods or as an individual deity. From the Palaeolithic ‘Earth Mother’ to the Celtic goddess of Boadicea, this land undoubtedly once revered the divine feminine. In this book, authors Simon Brighton and Terry Welbourn set out to discover what happened to the Goddess after she was evicted from her elevated position. Travelling throughout Britain, they have uncovered traces of the divine feminine: from holy wells and shrines, lost underground chambers to folklore, legends and fairy tales.
7 APRIL - AIDAN RANKIN – MANY-SIDED WISDOM Aidan Rankin PhD is a writer and researcher on spirituality. He is the author of The Jain Path: Ancient Wisdom for the West, described by David Frawley (Pandit Vamadeva Shastri) as the “best introduction to Jainism”. His new book, Many-Sided Wisdom: a new politics of the Spirit shows that the ancient Jain teaching of ‘Anekant’ (many-Sidedness) can help us heal the divisions between human beings and reconnect humanity with the natural world. ‘Anekant’ also offers a model for religious pluralism and diversity. It has been successful for millennia among Jains, but has a special relevance for the twenty-first century.
14 APRIL – PAUL WESTON - ALEISTER CROWLEY AND THE AEON OF HORUS: HISTORY-MAGICK-PSYCHEDELIA-UFOLOGY A talk looking beyond the legend Aleister Crowley including Jack Parsons, Robert Anton Wilson, Robert Graves and The Beatles to name a few and dealing with diverse and extraordinary subjects such as the Men in Black, the Loch Ness Monster and Extra-terrestrial Gnosis!
